Abstract

Somatostatin was demonstrated to inhibit the exocrine pancreatic function in dogs, rats, and man (for literature see (7)). This effect of somatostatin on the exocrine secretion suggested that somatostatin might be of therapeutic value in the treatment of pancreatitis.
