Abstract
The pyrimidine nucleoside thymidine is a specific precursor of DNA. Injected during the S-phase of the cell cycle, it is incorporated into the cell nucleus as an almost exclusively stable, not exchangable compound. By means of radioactively labeled thymidine and autoradiographic techniques, newly formed DNA can be demonstrated.
