Abstract

Limited reports of sexual behavior in older male monkeys are conflicting. Robinson et al. (1975) found reductions in ejaculations by older rhesus monkeys. Phoenix (1972) reported a reduction in mounting and increased latency to ejaculation in an older male rhesus monkey. Observations of Japanese macaques indicate that the older males may show considerable deficits or they may be as vigorous as younger males (Wolfe 1978, Eaton 1974). Few observations have been made on older female monkeys and no systematic data on socio-sexual behavior have been reported.
