Abstract
Tarsal joints are mainly responsible for inversion and eversion of the foot. They also are responsible for the changes in configuration as the foot is applied to the ground or takes hold of an object as in climbing (Gray 1910). Consequently, consistent use of the tarsal in a locomotion pattern may be reflected in some aspects of the articular surfaces.
