Abstract
The need for this route of extra-anatomical bypass is limited to those cases of massive aneurysmal dilatation in the thigh where the only alternative would be ligature of the common or external iliac artery followed by a very high above knee amputation. The first cases using this route were described by Shaw and Baue in 1963 (1); later MacPherson added a case history in 19 67 (2) , and Spiro and I described three cases in 1970 (3). This paper describes another five cases, a total of eight in a 10-Year experience.
