Indications — Contra-indications

  • Chapter
Warren’s Operation

Abstract

Warren’s operation can be considered the operation of first choice in the prevention of haemorrhagic relapses due to oesophageal varices in portal hypertensive patients. The operation is thus indicated in patients whose age and general conditions are compatible with a major operation, who have certainly bled from oesophageal varices at least once, and in whom the existence of portal perfusion can be demonstrated prior to operation.
