Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to help answer the following questions relating to the still controversial topic of long-term treatment with oral isosorbide dinitrate (ISDN):
  1. 1.

Is long-term ISDN treatment effective in reducing left ventricular filling pressures?

  2. 2.

Pharmacologically-induced preload reduction is superimposed on physiological orthostatic variations of volume load. Can this additive effect result in circulatory disturbances?
