Noise Performance of Single-Varactor Diode Parametric Circuits

Abstract

Based on the thermal noise sources in parametric circuits, the theory of noisy four-poles, as presented in Chap.6, is applied to three- and four-frequency converters as well as to (straight-through) amplifiers comprising a circulator or not. Special emphasis is drawn to the minimum noise figure or noise temperature—which can be adjusted by noise tuning and noise matching—because this clearly exhibits the excellent low-noise potentials of parametric circuits.
