Abstract
In the second and third decades of this century the French school at the Curie Foundation, Paris, under the direction of Regaud, and also Coutard, who was a chief of the X-ray department, brought radiotherapy to a new basis. Clinical radiobiology was the main factor which enabled the change in the radiologic treatment of cancer. The X-ray doses were always measured, but the reaction of the normal tissue and the shrinking of the tumor were decisive for the final dose.
