Cytokinin Action on Enzyme Activities in Plants

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Proceedings in Life Sciences ((LIFE SCIENCES))

Abstract

Many data have been collected in recent years dealing with cytokinin effects on enzyme activities in plants (2, 3, 5, 10, 14). In some cases cytokinin was shown to enhance the synthesis of an enzyme (3, 10) or to induce synthesis of a new protein (6). In some plant tissues, cytokinin-induced increase in enzyme activity is preceded by activation of RNA synthesis (27). However, it was shown that the change in the polysome: monosome ratio effected by cytokinin treatment was not blocked by inhibition of transcription (6).
