Zusammenfassung
Die scheinbare Vertrautheit vieler Programmierer mit Texten führt häufig zu einer Unterschatzung der Komplexität von Aufgaben aus dem Gebiet der Textverarbeitung. Eine rigorose Formalisierung der Spezifikation solcher Probleme kann helfen, eine Reihe versteckter Fragen aufzudecken. Eine Grundlage dafür liefert eine hinreichend vollständig algebraisch beschriebene Rechenstruktur zur Darstellung von Texten. Die dadurch geschaffenen, flexiblen Spezifikationsh’ilfsmittel können auch für eine auf die Spezifikation folgende Programmentwicklung eingesetzt werden.
