Abstract
In truncal vagotomy as well as in a-SPV with adequate reduction of acid secretion, stomach emptying is delayed (cf. p 62, Table 12) [51]. Dragstedt (1956) has described gastric ulcers subsequent to truncal vagotomy. In animal studies ulcerations may be produced in spite of SV (cf. p. 65). Histological changes in connective tissue structures as well as in plexus structures of the stomach have been described [38,102 p. 33 ff., 146,153,155,177]. This study is an attempt to clarify whether interstitial and plexus alterations are possibly correlated with gastro- duodenal ulcer and whether these might be of any significance for gastric function.
