There is no doubt that unsaturated fatty acids (UFA) do indeed act as immunosuppressants when they are first administered. Although the control experiments in some early animal graft work were poorly controlled [2], UFA do seem to exert an immunosuppressant effect in vivo in acute experiments both regarding transplants and EAE, as they do in vitro.
