Abstract
The studies on toads provided our first insights into neuronal processes that might be responsible for the release and control of motor behavior. In this connection a whole series of basic questions and problems arose, concerning not only toads in particular, but also other vertebrates and invertebrates. The same questions also apply, finally, to other sensorimotor systems.
