Methods for the Examination of Ganglion-Blocking Activity

  • Chapter
Pharmacology of Ganglionic Transmission

Part of the book series: Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology ((HEP,volume 53))

Abstract

Ganglion-blocking agents are widely used by physiologists and pharmacologists as useful tools in the exploration of the basic mechanism of ganglionic transmission, which is a crucial field of the neurosciences. Methods utilizing ganglionic preparations therefore have been and still are of importance for two reasons: For the promotion of possible new drug development, and for assistance in basic research in the neurophysiology of synapses.
