Gastric Cancer

Abstract

For many years, the relationship between gastric polyps and gastric carcinoma have been discussed. In this regard, the hamartomatous and the mesenchymal polyps can be neglected, only the so-called epithelial polyps should be taken into consideration. It is important to differentiate between nonneoplastic (tumor-like) and neoplastic epithelial polyps [3]. The so-called hyperplasiogenous polyp, according to Elster [2], can be regarded as a nonneoplastic lesion.
