Zusammenfassung
Die Membran als Permeabilitätsbarriere hat die Kapazität, den Fluß von Metaboliten (Substraten) in eine Zelle hinein zu steuern. Wir haben im letzten Kapitel zwei Pumpsysteme kennengelernt. Am Beispiel der Na+/K+-Pumpe haben wir die Kopplung von einem Transportphänomen mit einem zweiten besprochen und am Beispiel der Ca2+-Pumpe die Bedeutung der Lipidzusammensetzung der Membran für die Aktivität der Pumpe. Der Transport von Metaboliten ist in vieler Hinsicht von Interesse. Natürlich ist man am Mechanismus des Transports interessiert, und hierfür bieten sich vor allem Bakterien als Versuchsobjekte an, einmal, weil man sie leicht in großen Mengen kultivieren kann und zum anderen, weil man mit Mutanten arbeiten kann, deren Translokationsleistungen gestört sind.
