Cellulose Acetate Paper Electrophoresis of Human Serum

Abstract

Compounds with positive or negative net electric charges will migrate towards the opposite poles in an electric field. This phenomenon is called electrophoresis. If a mixture of different components, such as serum proteins, or amino acids, is placed in this electric field, the components will migrate toward the oppositely charged electrodes. The direction and velocity of their migration is determined mainly by their net electric charge.
