Glass Wall Methods
Abstract In glass wall methods root growth is observed or recorded through glass windows placed against the soil profile. Sachs (1873) working in boxes with refilled soil was one of the first who used this technique (see Sect. 10.3.3). Root studies in undisturbed soil profiles were made for the first time by McDougall (1916).
