Abstract

The anaesthetist is responsible for the patient for up to 36 h post-anaesthesia. Post-operative conditions of the patient can change and therefore need conti-nuous and careful observation. Intensive care means extensive and continual careful observation and treatment of patients who suffer from insufficient functioning of one or more of the following systems:
  1. 1)

    Respiratory system

     
  2. 2)

    Circulatory system

     
  3. 3)

    Metabolic system
