Abstract

The best definition of cardiac arrest I ever came across is that given by Safar who wrote:

“Cardiac arrest is the clinical picture of cessation of circulation in a patient who was not expected to die at that time.” The phrase “a patient who was not expected to die at that time” indicates the need for reanimation.
