Determination of the Rotation of the Earth (at Present)

  • Chapter
Tidal Friction and the Earth’s Rotation

Abstract

The determination of the Earth’s rotation includes current observations of both the rotational phase of the Earth with respect to a celestial frame of reference, and the position of the axis of rotation with respect to the Earth’s crust or, in other words, the regular determination of Universal Time and polar motion.
