Abstract

The need for medically trained personnel at racing events has been obvious for several decades. However, motor racing authorities have only recently understood that such personnel should be people whose everyday work is intensive care or emergency medicine. In 1969, therefore, the Medical Rescue Team (formerly the Medical Security Team) began its work at the Swedish motor racing circuits.
