Correlations Between Clinical Symptoms and Computerized Tomography Findings in Closed Head Injuries

Abstract

Up to now, the classification of head injuries has been based on the initial clinical signs and the subsequent progress. The real extent of a traumatic brain lesion cannot be detected exactly by the conventional investigations such as echo ECG, x-rays, or cerebral angiography. Using computerized Tomography (CT), intracranial hemorrhages and contusional lesions can be distinguished. Therefore, a correlation between clinical syndromes and morphologic lesions seems to be possible.
