Abstract

The development of the postnatal maturation of the retina of the cat in the region of the posterior eye pole was examined throughout 17 stages of development from neonatal to adult (Table 1) (collection of material by Haug, 1972). For seven of the retinae (6 h; 5, 8, 15, 30, 62 days and adult animal) morphometric measurements of the relative volumes of the different cellular structures were carried out.
