Abstract
Thurau: Dr. Gauer, in your very early experiments, you showed primarily an increase in free-water excretion without a rise in solute excretion, i.e., osmolar clearance was not increased. In contrast, Murry Epstein’s data obtained in subjects during water immersion definitely show that sodium excretion is closely coupled with water excretion. Do you have an explanation for this difference between your previous observations and the recent data?
