Abstract

It is now more than fifteen years since we postulated that the hypothalamus produces not only releasing hormones that regulate the function of the adenohypophysis, but also a family of new hormones that regulate cardiac activity and its coronary circulation. These peptide hormones, discovered by GALOYAN, act without the hypophysis in an organotropic mode (GALOYAN, 1962, 1965, 1975).
