The Diagnostic Limitations of Computerised Axial Tomography

Abstract

Until recently the achievement of diagnostically adequate resolution in the basal subarachnoid cisterns has remained a difficult problem for computed tomography (CT). Artifacts frequently degrade image quality and preclude subtle diagnosis (Fig. 17.1.A & 17.2.A).
