Abstract
A caval catheter whose tip is correctly positioned in the superior caval vein must be required:

To cause as few thromboses as possible (Bässler, 25)

2.
Not to be vulnerable to body fluids chemically or enzymatically

3.
Not to give off any injurious substances

4.
Not only to be soft and flexible but to remain so
