Part of the book series: Telecommunications ((TELECOMMUNICATI,volume 1))

Abstract

The purpose of this contribution is to elucidate certain philosophies with regard to the realization of low cost education and consultation services by a combined use of CATV- and telephone networks and to report on some initial achievements in this direction. These include the design and installation of a so-called doublestar CATV-network {1} the development of an electronic blackboard or ″teleboard {2} and first performance observations. Messages written on the “teleboard” can be either transmitted simultaneously with speech over an ordinary telephone circuit or as a standard television signal over a CATV-channel.
