Abstract

Immunoadsorbents have been widely used for purification of specific and highly pure antibodies. Various materials have been employed as carrier-matrices for the binding of specific antigens. The most successful experiments have been made with ion-exchange resins (8), cellulose (3), glutaraldehyde-beads (11) and agarose-beads (5, 6). All methods have in common that the use of gels as carrier-matrices has certain disadvantages as there are: instability to temperature, hydratation conditions, and mechanical difficulties whien used in column chromatography.
