Abstract
It is far more difficult to visualize, radiologically, joint space lesions than bone lesions. Apart from the atlantoodontoid joint which may be sometimes perfectly visualized on lateral projections, joints are best analyzed on frontal or lateral tomograms. The standardized tomographic methods work perfectly under normal anatomic conditions. This is, however, not the case with pathological conditions, as we shall see.
