Abstract
The present paper examines the indications for sagittal split osteotomy on the basis of a follow-up investigation of 75 out of approximately 100 cases. Emphasis is placed on the significance of rigid internal fixation (see Chap. C6) and preoperative planning utilizing simulography for the positioning of the proximal segment (see Chap. C4). The effects of these factors on the healing process, follow-up treatment, and recurrence are examined.
