Zusammenfassung
Der Diabetes mellitus ist in seiner primär-genuinen Form eine Erbkrankheit, welche auf einem Mangel an biologisch aktivem Insulin beruht (relativer oder absoluter Insulinmangel). Er kann klinisch wenige Monate nach der Geburt. Aber auch noch im hohen Alter erstmalig in Erscheinung treten und zeichnet sich durch Hyperglykämie und Glucosurie aus. Es besteht also primär eine Störung des Kohlenhydratstoffwechsels.
