Zusammenfassung
Die Beziehungen zwischen Zucker- und Fettstoffwechsel sind vielfaltig und komplex. Das gemeinsame Auftreten von Hyperlipidämie und Hyperglykämie bildet ein breites Spektrum bezüglich der Ausprägung der einen und der anderen Stoffwechselstörung. Am einen Ende dieses Spektrums stehen die endogenen Hypertriglyceridämien (Typ II-b bis Typ V-Hyperlipoproteinämie), in deren Gefolge in 60 bis 80% der Fälle latente oder manifeste Störungen der Glukosetoleranz nachgewiesen werden können (s. S. 324). Die Fettstoffwechselstörung ist sowohl bezüglich des Zeitpunkts des Auftretens als auch bezüglich der Schwere der Stoffwechselstörung führend, der „Diabetes“ ist typischerweise insulinunabhängig und nicht ketotisch (s. S. 332).
