Zusammenfassung
Die Blutkonservierung erfolgt nach zwei unterschiedlichen Prinzipien: Aufrechterhaltung des Stoffwechsels bei der Konservierung im flüssigen Zustand oder vollständige Unterbindung aller Stoffwechselvorgänge bei der sogenannten Tiefkühlkonservierung, d.h. bei der Lagerung des Blutes im gefrorenen Zustand. Von der letzteren Möglichkeit wird erst seit einigen Jahren Gebrauch gemacht. Der mit der Tiefkühlkonservierung verbundene finanzielle und apparative Aufwand schränkt das Verfahren jedoch auf Spezialfälle ein, so daß auch in Zukunft der weitaus größte Teil der Blutkonserven im flüssigen Zustand gelagert werden wird.
