Abstract
In mechanical engineering the term ‘production process’ infers all the activities associated with the manufacture of a product, i.e. from the design stage, process planning and manufacture to the assembly. In process planning, which represents the most important link between development and manufacture, the drawings and parts lists prepared by the design department are converted into machining-orientated instructions in the form of operational charts.
