The Parenchymal Blood Vessels of the Upper Brainstem

  • Benno Schlesinger

The diagrams here presented illustrate, apart from the origin from their parent vessels the course and distribution of the upper brainstem arteries in relation to nuclei and fiber tracts as seen in Specimen XIII.R The illustrations are based on microscopic sections (s. Chapter IV.C) and correspond, in all essential points, to the histologic data without, however, following them slavishly. They offer a somewhat simplified version of the arterial distribution pattern, minor modifications having been introduced in order to avoid crowding the illustrations with details that may obscure the overall arrangement of the vascular channels concerned. The shape of the individual arteries has also been simplified. This applies especially to the deep branches of the anterior chorioidal artery.
