Comparison of the Effect of Adalat and Propranolol on Exercise Tolerance in Patients with Angina Pectoris

Abstract

Angina pectoris is one of the most distressing manifestations of ischemic heart disease, and its medical management is often difficult. One approach to its treatment has involved the use of vasodilator drugs, of which glyceryl trinitrate is the most commonly used [6]. Unfortunately, while acutely administered glyceryl trinitrate is undoubtedly efficacious, results with so-called “long-acting vasodilators” have been much less impressive [1, 5, 17].
