Abnormal Neutrophils in Acute Myelogenous Leukemia: Identification of Subpopulations Based on Analysis of Azurophil and Specific Granules

Abstract

The combined techniques of electron microscopy and peroxidase cytochemistry have permitted the identification of at least three abnormal subgroups of peroxidase-negative and peroxidase positive neutrophils. The findings reported here emphasize the value of this approach in detecting abnormalities in the cytoplasmic differentiation of leukemic PMN.
