Abstract

In the open test, absorption is not increased by occlusion. In cases with a high degree of allergy, a sufficient amount of the allergen can be absorbed, even if the concentration applied is the same as that used for the closed patch test. The absorption of certain substances may be less dependent on occlusion. Primin (Isolan) produces an equally strong reaction with the open test as with the closed patch test.
