Abstract
CSF infusion tests have been used by many authors to obtain information about CSF hydrydynamics. Saline or artificial CSF has been infused at a constant rate by the lumbar route. The resulting change in CSF pressure at one or two infusion rates has been recorded (1, 2,3,4,5,6). The constant rate infusion test according to KATZMAN and HUSSEY (2) was the starting point for the author who has performed 30 investigations with that method. There is one important objection to the method: the time needed to reach a plateau value of the pressure is usually considerable and it is necessary to infuse for at least 30 minutes before a reliable pressure value is obtained.
