Abstract
Following the intravenous injection of heparin, lipolytic activities against long-chain tri- di- and monoglycerides, short chain triglycerides and phospholipids are released into plasma (Shore et al., 1953; Shore and Shore, 1961; Fielding, 1970; Levy and Swank, 1954; Meyers et al., 1955; De Meis and Maroja, 1967; Yasuoka and Fujii, 1971; Vogel and Bierman, 1967; Vogel and Zieve, 1964). It has been demonstrated from our laboratory and others that, in addition to lipoprotein lipase of extrahepatic origin, post-heparin plasma contains a triglyceride hydrolase released from the liver (LaRosa et al., 1972; Krauss et al., 1973; Assmann et al., 1973; Fielding, 1972; Greten et al., 1972).
