Für die Entstehung eines malignen Tumors ist die dauernde oder temporäre Suppression des Immunsystems nicht ohne Bedeutung. Da andererseits jede Bestrahlung zu einer Schwächung der Immunabwehr führt, erhalten tumorimmunologische Fragen auch für den Radiotherapeuten praktisches Gewicht.
