Abstract

“Sport and Conflict” was chosen as the subject of that main event of this congress which is devoted to sociology and social psychology. This may surprise some because on the occasion of the Olympic Games the elements of unity and co-operation in athletics are usually stressed officially. “Sport unites the people of the world” is the predominant slogan of the Olympic Games, and one of the declared aims of the Olympic Games is the rapprochement of nations.
