Neurochemical Aspects of Behavior

The manifold aspects of animal behavior are the expression of the activation and integration of several circuits and specialized areas in the brain. The precision of the response of the living organism to a given stimulus increases with increasing complexity of the circuits. The activity of such circuits depends not only on the neurochemical mediators in the brain, but also on the availability of these substances at the receptor sites, so that it is reasonable to suppose that different behavioral attitudes correspond to different biochemical arrangements of the central nervous system.
