Antagonists of Angiotensin II

  • Chapter

Abstract

Recently, interest in specific pharmacological antagonists to angiotensin has grown (Godfraind, 1968). Since angiotensin has a wide spectrum of actions and stimulates smooth muscle both directly and indirectly it is convenient to describe the antagonists in two categories:

  1. 1.

Drugs which antagonize the indirect effects of angiotensin,

  2. 2.

Drugs which antagonize the direct effects of angiotensin.
