Abstract
On July 20, 1969, Neil A. Armstrong and EDwin E. ALdrin landed successfully on the Moon in the Sea of Tranquillity at latitude 9.67° N and longitude 23.49° E. After exploring the lunar surface in the vicinity of their spacecraft they returned safely to Earth with 22 kilograms of rocks and dust they had collected. The exploration of the Moon and the collection of rock samples for analysis has been continued by subsequent American flights of the Apollo program and by the automatic probe “Luna 16” of the U.S.S.R.
