Abstract

The standard reflections of the normal sonoencephalogram are produced when the ultrasonic beam-scalp angle is approximately 90°. The composite of reflections which appear to the far left on the oscilloscope screen is called the initial echo (initial complex, near-side echo, the “main-bang”). The reflection appearing in the middle of the field is termed the midline echo. The group of reflections at the far right is called the end echo (bottom echo, far-side echo).
