Zusammenfassung
Obwohl über die Struktur und die Heterogenität von Immunglobulinen und Antikörpern schon ein umfangreiches und schnell wachsendes Wissen vorliegt, weiß man über die Bildung von Antikörpern noch verhältnismäßig wenig. Erst kürzlich konnte überhaupt die Frage geklärt werden, welche Zellen Antikörper synthetisieren. Die größte Unklarheit betrifft die Rolle des Antigens beim Prozeß der Antikörperbildung, und zwar sowohl auf cellulärer wie auch auf molekularer Ebene. Außerdem ist nicht genau bekannt, ob und welche verschiedenen Typen von Antikörpermolekülen eine einzelne Zelle synthetisieren kann.
